A day in the life of a DTS student

People ask me what I do over here, and many think I’m just over here on vacation. That’s not the case. We do have most weekends off, but during the week we have a schedule that is jam-packed and we don’t have much free time. I’ll take you through one of my days here to show you guys what it’s like!

Class starts at 8:45 everyday except for Monday, when we have worship with the entire campus. That ends at 8:45, and then my school heads to lecture. Lecture will starts as soon as people get there, which is about 8:50. The first portion of morning lecture changes depending on the day. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we have Bible Study. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have what is called “Life with God”, where we learn things like the Roman’s Road, how to cultivate a better prayer life and different ways to preach the gospel, among other things.

We have a break at 9:50, and then we have the week’s speaker until lunch at 12. things get pretty crazy in the tent, so we normally go over time but we don’t mind. After lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays we have prayer sets, when we go into the prayer room from 1 to 3. Some of the topics we’ve had have been different countries, and other times it is for specific issues. The prayer sets can also get wild and they are one of my favorite things.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have our different tracks from 1 to 3. I am in the Compassion Ablaze track. Some days we have speakers who are focused on mercy ministries and are able to tell us about their experiences and other times we are working on projects.

From 3 to 5 we have work duty, and then dinner until 6. Mondays and Tuesdays are usually our only free nights, unless there is an event that is happening but usually we have those off. Wednesday nights we have family time, when our outreach groups will hang out with each other. Thursday nights we have Ohana night, a corporate worship and message. Friday nights are ministry night, which is also amazing. That is when my school goes into the prayer room from 6:30 to 8:30 and it’s worship, unlike any worship I’ve ever experienced before. It is incredible. I’ll talk about ministry nights in another post.

So there it is! That’s my schedule over here. Busy almost all day every day during the week, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
